Kickbutt Amped Energy Ballz #37 Ford Finished 22nd in Yellow Transportation 300

East and Kickbutt Amped Energy Ballz Team Earn Top-25 Finish at Kansas Speedway

Kansas City, KS (September 29, 2007)…It was another successful outing for rookie Bobby East and the #37 Kickbutt Amped Energy Ballz Ford Fusion team at Kansas Speedway.  East accomplished his goals for the race: gaining experience, avoiding the 10 cautions, and finishing on the lead lap.  He and the Kickbutt Amped Energy Ballz team gained seven positions during the race and finished in the 22nd position.

Rookie Bobby East was looking forward to getting back behind the wheel of the #37 Kickbutt Amped Energy Ballz Ford Fusion after a two week hiatus.  After three practice sessions on Friday, Bobby knew it would be a wild and eventful race.  East would start the race in the 29th position after a quick qualifying lap of 32.112 seconds.

The Yellow Transportation 300 proved to be an eventful race from the beginning.  Just a few laps into the race Bobby East radioed to the team, “The car is a little tight.”  On lap 19 he followed up with, “It’s really, really tight!”  Crew Chief Stewart Cooper responded with, “10-4.  It won’t get better until we pit.  Try to move around and find another groove to improve the handling of the car.”  A few laps later Cooper radioed to East, “That last lap was better man.  Keep pushing, you are doing better.”

During the caution on lap 34, East brought the #37 Kickbutt Amped Energy Ballz Ford Fusion to the attention of the crew for air pressure and trackbar adjustments.  After the adjustments were complete East left pit road in a cloud of smoke.  East was running in the 31st position on lap 78 when he told his crew that he was tight in the center of the corners and off.  Another caution enabled East to pit on lap 91 for additional adjustments to improve the handling of the car.  The caution flag flew again on lap 98 for a spin; East radioed to the crew, “I am in the grass because I had to avoid the wreck.  I don’t think the car is hurt badly.”  Stewart Cooper made the call for Bobby East to bring the #37 back down pit road to check for damage.  After the crew surveyed the car, it was determined that the car had no damage and East rejoined the race.

However, East would again pit during the caution on lap 107 for more adjustments.  On lap 112 Bobby East told the team, “The car seems better, but it hasn’t been a long enough run to know for sure.  I think it’s better since the ride through the grass.”  The #37 Kickbutt Amped Energy Ballz Ford Fusion would pit several additional times to perfect the handling of the car.  When all 200 laps were complete, East was credited with 22nd position; this is the #37 Kickbutt Amped Energy Ballz team and Bobby East’s 6th Top-25 finish in 8 races.

Quotes from Bobby East
“I have to say we struggled a little bit today, but it was fun out there racing.  We got the car better as the day went on, even after the run through the grass.  I want to thank everyone at Fun Energy Foods and Brewco Motorsports for their effort this weekend.  I really like working with Brewco Motorsports because they always prepare good cars; it is a pleasure to work with everyone.”

The next race for the Kickbutt Amped Energy Ballz team will be the Dollar General 300 at Lowe’s Motor Speedway on Friday, October 12th.  Race time is 8:00 EST with live television coverage beginning at 7:30 EST on ESPN2.
