Kentucky Brings Another Top-10 for Biffle, Brewco Cub Cadet Ford
Sparta, KY (June 18, 2007) – Greg Biffle scored another top-ten finish – his fourth of the year – in Brewco Motorsports’ No. 37 Cub Cadet Ford Fusion: this time in the Meijer 300 at Kentucky Speedway Saturday night.
For the second week in a row, Biffle juggled a cross-country schedule to compete in Brewco’s Cub Cadet Ford. He arrived at Kentucky Speedway just before qualifying, and the first laps he made all weekend in the Brewco entry were good enough for an 11th place starting position in the race.
Right from the drop of the green flag, Biffle started moving through the field. By lap 17 he moved up to the seventh position, and reported to Crew Chief Newt Moore that the Cub Cadet Ford was “just a hair on the tight side.” The Brewco team’s first opportunity to pit and work on the tight conditions came following a caution on lap 63. A miscue on that pit stop however led to a pass through penalty and Biffle returned to the racetrack in the 31st position, one lap down.
The setback discouraged the Cub Cadet team, but Moore reminded his driver and crew that there was still plenty of racing left to do. By the halfway mark of the race, Biffle had moved up to the 21st position, still one lap down. The Brewco crew fought to get back on the lead lap, and finally did so following a caution on lap 157. Biffle moved the Cub Cadet Ford from the 20th position on lap 160 to his finishing position of tenth place by the end of the race.
“It’s unfortunate; we had a really good car,” said Biffle after the event. “We had a tire get away us on a pit stop and it cost us a little bit. Overall, it wasn’t a bad night; we were able to get the Cub Cadet Fusion back in the top-ten. We came back from being a lap down and we were able to get back in it.”
Next for the No. 37 Brewco team will be the AT&T 250 at The Milwaukee Mile on Saturday, June 23. Television coverage of the race begins at 8:00 pm EST on ESPN2.
