Central
City, Kentucky businessman Clarence
Brewer Jr. began the construction of his
racing enterprise, Brewco Motorsports,
in 1994 with one racecar and a small
shop. This year, Brewer begins his
tenth season as a car owner in the
NASCAR Busch Series. Let’s take a look
at the highlights of Brewco Motorsports
in the Busch Series:
1995 -
Brewco Motorsports fielded its first entry
in a NASCAR Busch Series race at
Indianapolis Raceway Park. Mark Green
started 28th and finished 18th
as Brewer’s racing vision became a
reality.
1996 -
Swedish Match North America, through its
Timber Wolf Brand of moist snuff, joined
forces with Brewco Motorsports for ten
races.
1997 - Mark
Green drove the #37 Timber Wolf Chevrolet
in 30 Races, earning the team’s first
top-five finish with a 5th-place
finish at Charlotte on October 4th.
Another Swedish Match product, Red Man
chewing tobacco, was the primary sponsor
of a Craftsman Truck Series entry from
Brewco Motorsports in a limited schedule.
1998 - Both
the Timber Wolf Busch Series and Red Man
Truck Series teams competed full-time on
their respective tours.
1999 -
Brewco Motorsports grew to three teams
with the truck team converted to a
full-time Busch team and a third Busch
team added with Castrol GTX sponsorship.
Casey Atwood scored the first win and pole
award for Brewco Motorsports at Milwaukee
in July and finished the season with two
wins and two poles.
2000 -
Brewco fielded two Busch teams with Casey
Atwood finishing eighth and Kevin Grubb
finishing 13th in the overall
point standings.
2001 -
Brewco went through a “season of change”
as Atwood moved to Winston Cup and Jamie
McMurray and Williams TravelCenters joined
Brewco to team with Kevin Grubb and Timber
Wolf. Together, they scored three
top-five finishes and ten top-ten
finishes.
2002 - Jeff
Purvis joined Brewco Motorsports to drive
the Timber Wolf car and team with
McMurray. On April 6th, Purvis
gave the #37 Timber Wolf team their first
Busch Series victory at the Texas Motor
Speedway. Kevin Lepage, substituting for
Purvis after the Tennessee driver was
injured in an accident at Nazareth in May,
scored the first career Bud Pole awards
for Timber Wolf Racing at Michigan and
Dover. Jamie McMurray scored wins at
Atlanta and Rockingham and finished a
Brewco career-best sixth in the overall
standings.
2003 - David
Green joined Brewco Motorsports to drive
the #37 Timber Wolf Racing Pontiac. En
route to a 2nd place finish in
final points, Green recorded three wins,
11 top-fives, 21 top-tens, and two poles.
The Jason Ratcliff led Timber Wolf Racing
Team won the 2003 PowerAde Pit Crew
Championship, while Green took home Bud
Pole honors.
2004 – David
Green returns to drive the No. 37 Timber
Wolf Chevrolet. Johnny Sauter joins
Kleenex in a new partnership with Brewco
Motorsports. Both teams are considered
favorites to win the 2004 NASCAR Busch
Series Championship, yet fall short at the
end. Green makes Brewco Motorsports
history by driving in BMI's first ever
Nextel Cup race (Richmond).
2005- In
their 10th year of NASCAR Busch Series
competition, Brewco Motorsports resigns
David Green, this time to drive the #27
Kleenex Ford Taurus. Cup veteran Greg
Biffle and newcomer Aaron Fike will both
drive part-time in the #66 Duraflame Ford.
