Coleman has Solid Showing in First NASCAR Busch Race
Brewco 18 year-old finishes 29th at Nashville
New York City, NY (June 12, 2006) – In his first NASCAR Busch Series start, Brewco Motorsports rookie Brad Coleman drove the No. 37 Federated Auto Parts Ford Fusion to a respectable 29th place finish in Saturday night’s Federated Auto Parts 300 at Nashville Superspeedway.
“We set the car up very conservatively for Brad since it was his first start in a Busch car and I think that took some of his speed away, but we were very pleased with our overall performance”, stated veteran Crew Chief Shawn Parker. “The kid drove the car consistently well and caught some bad breaks as far as the timing of cautions. We are already looking forward to his next run at this level.”
When asked about the race, Coleman said “It was a great experience. We took a very conservative approach to the race and feel like we accomplished what we set out to do. It was my first day in a Busch car and there was not a lot of practice time for this event. Even though we had a couple of tough breaks with debris and a yellow flag, we still finished the race strong and without incident.”
Asked how he felt racing next to NASCAR Nextel Cup stars like Carl Edwards and Kevin Harvick, the youngster quipped “When I was in the garage area with them, I remembered how I felt as a fan, but when we would hit the track, I really enjoyed driving against them. What I like the most about racing at the NASCAR Busch Series level is the drivers race you very clean. It is a professional atmosphere that I have looked forward to throughout my career. I feel like we can compete with these guys and look forward to our next race in the Busch Series.”
Coleman’s next race is this Friday at Michigan International Speedway in the ARCA RE/MAX Series Hantz Group 200. Television coverage begins at 5 pm EST on SPEED Channel.
