David Green, No. 27 Ravenswood Brewco Team Score
Top-25 Finish in Bristol

Bristol, TN (August 28, 2006) – David Green and the Brewco Motorsports No. 27 team were caught up in one of the Food City 250’s 14 cautions, but rebounded to score a 21st place finish at Bristol Motor Speedway Friday night.

This was the first time Brewco’s No. 27 entry finished outside the top-15 in the Ravenswood colors. Previous to Bristol, the Brewco crew, led by Co-Crew Chief Stewart Cooper, took the Ravenswood Ford to a ninth place finish in the Bashas’ Supermarkets 200 at Phoenix International Raceway on April 21, and a 15th place finish in the Zippo 200 at Watkins Glen International on August 12.

This was the final race in the 2006 season that Ravenswood served as the primary sponsor on Brewco’s No. 27 entry.

Green said he was looking forward to going into Bristol and continuing the No. 27 team’s climb in the driver’s points standings from 37th in the season opener in Daytona to 15th after last week’s race at Michigan International Speedway.

“Going into my favorite track, I had high expectations for the weekend and hoped we could contend for a pole and a top-five like we had done in the past,” he said. “But like the spring race, we struggled with handling issues in practice and in the race. Stewart was bound and determined to try anything big or small to see if we could get a hold of the track, and that’s what I love in my crew chief: his never give-up attitude.”

Green qualified the Ravenswood Ford in 24th place.

”With the two laps of qualifying on the new set-up, the car seemed better but a little tight,” said Green.

As the race progressed, the Brewco crew worked on the set-up and avoided the many accidents. However their luck ran out on lap 101, when the No. 27 Ravenswood Ford became involved in a wreck with the No. 4 and No. 16 cars.

“After the No. 4 car turned me sideways in turns one and two, it knocked the steering out of alignment and though we pitted, we had no time to adjust the toe,” Green said. “The car then was a bit better than before the wreck, so whatever got bent got bent in the right direction. But unfortunately as the tires wore, the car had trouble staying on the bottom of the track, which is essential for success at Bristol.

“This 2006 Bristol tire has really caused us fits and headaches at both of the Bristol races this year,” Green said. “But our on-going tire analysis continues and I know we’re on our way to becoming a top-five and top-ten contender again like we can and should be. On the bright side, we didn’t lose any spots in the driver’s points, so we'll go to California this weekend and work hard to improve our points position and contend for the win.”

Next for the No. 27 Brewco team will be the Ameriquest 300 at California Speedway on Saturday, September 2. Television coverage of the race begins at 10:00 pm EST on TNT.
