David Green, No. 27 Brewco Pull-Ups® Continue Progress with 17th Place Finish at Dover

No. 27 Car at Dover

Dover, DE (June 5, 2006) – David Green and the No. 27 Brewco Motorsports team scored a 17th place finish this weekend in the StonebridgeRacing.com 200 at Dover International Raceway on Saturday. It was the team’s fifth finish of 17th or better in the last eight races.

Qualifying for the race was rained out and the field was set by owner’s points, starting the No. 27 Ford Fusion in the 25th position. Co-crew chiefs Stewart Cooper and Shawn Parker led the Brewco pit crew through the first pit stop of the race on lap 33, which included tires, fuel and a trackbar adjustment.

“As the race played out, the adjustments we did after the first stop were really good,” Green said. “In that long run in the first half of the race our car got better and better. It was a little free at the start of run, but came around really well.”

Green had moved up from 25th place at the start of the race to the 17th position, but contact with another competitor following a caution impeded the progress of the No. 27 Brewco Pull-Ups® Ford.

“After a restart later in the race, my car started off better than it had all day,” Green said, “but as I was underneath and passing the 06 car, he came down on me and knocked-in my right front fender. Thanks to a yellow flag shortly after the contact, we made several pit stops, allowing my Brewco crew to repair the damage. Unfortunately, because of the multiple stops, we lost all of the track position the team worked so hard to get.”

Green narrowly missed a wreck on lap 156 that collected several cars, en route to the 17th place finish. The No. 27 Brewco team moved up to 22nd place in the Busch Series owner’s points.

“When it was all said and done, we gained several spots in the points and had a good day in the pits,” Green said. “It was not the finish we wanted, but we learned more about this 2006 Goodyear tire, which made us tight in the center during the race and just lacked grip.  We can take the things we learned at Dover and put the information toward the upcoming races, especially Nashville, which is another concrete surface track.”

Next for the No. 27 Brewco team will be the Federated Auto Parts 300 at Nashville Superspeedway on Saturday June 10. The primary sponsor on the No. 27 Ford Fusion in Nashville will be will be Federated Auto Parts. Brewco Motorsports will field three cars in the race: the No. 27 Ford, the No. 66 Cub Cadet Ford Fusion driven by Greg Biffle, and the No. 37 Federated Auto Parts Ford Fusion driven by Brewco rookie Brad Coleman, who is making his NASCAR Busch Series debut. Television coverage begins at 7 pm on FX.
