David Green Guides No. 27 Ravenswood Brewco Ford to Top-15 Finish at The Glen

Watkins Glen, NY (August 14, 2006) – For the second time this season, David Green and the No. 27 Brewco Motorsports team found success with their special Ravenswood Winery paint scheme and scored a 15th place finish in the Zippo 200 at Watkins Glen International on Saturday. It was the second top-15 finish in the Ravenswood car for the Brewco crew, the first of which came at Phoenix International Raceway in April where the team finished ninth.

At The Glen, Green and the Brewco crew, led by Co-Crew Chief Stewart Cooper, were fast right from the start of the weekend.

“As everyone ran their first runs, we were right there, third quickest,” Green said. “We were able to fine tune our set-up, which kept us in the top ten in practice speeds at the end of Friday’s session.”

The team made a mock qualifying run in practice and Green told Cooper that the No. 27 Ford Fusion was a big snug through the right hand turns.

“We tweaked our chassis set-up a bit and we hoped that would be a good change for the race,” Green said. “For qualifying, the temperate was higher and the track hotter, making us a bit loose in the right hand turns. It prevented us from qualifying higher in the field, but I knew when we went back into race mode, the changes Stewart made were going to be good for us.”

Green started the race in the 22nd position.

“The race started off good, even though I lost a few spots early, being on the outside lane,” Green said. “After we settled out my car drove very well. With the hotter conditions we just lost a little overall grip compared to what we had Friday.

”One thing is for sure though, this was the kind of road course race we needed,” Green continued. “The transmission was great and the brakes were awesome. At the end when Stewart told me to ‘use it up,’ it showed how great the car was. We had a top-10 car and that’s what makes me proud of Stewart and the Ravenswood team. The pit stops were great as well.

”Moving up two spots in the points is always a good reward for our hard work,” Green said. “I'm proud of the effort my Brewco Ravenswood guys gave me, and now we can build off this momentum for future road course events and for Saturday at Michigan.”

Next for the No. 27 Brewco team will be the CarFax 250 at Michigan International Speedway on Saturday August 19. Television coverage of the race begins at 2:45 pm EST on TNT.
