David Green, No. 27 Cottonelle® Brewco Team Score Top-25 Finish in Loudon

Loudon, New Hampshire (July 17, 2006) – David Green and the No. 27 Cottonelle® Ford Fusion fought grip issues and a starting position deep in the field, but missed the many accidents of the weekend for a 22nd place finish at the New Hampshire International Speedway on Saturday afternoon.

Green and the Brewco Motorsports crew worked hard in the weekend practice sessions for the New England 200 in Loudon to correct the tire grip issues they faced last week.

“After the practice sessions, we felt like made some headway in our corner exit speed, but with that we needed some additional rear grip,” said Green. “We made some good adjustments Saturday morning before the race, but unfortunately it hurt us in qualifying. We were a bit too loose for that, but I knew it would be better for the race.”

Green and the Brewco team were excited for the start of the race, and though they qualified in the 30th position, by lap 58 the Cottonelle® Ford was in 20th place.

“The race started awesome,” Green said. “The car did everything it needed to do. It reminded me of the car that we won with at this track in 2003.”

The first pit stop took place on lap 58 and the tire adjustments made during the stop changed the driving characteristics of the car.

“The car went was a bit loose with a lack of rear grip,” said Green. “The rest of day we fought the grip issue. This 2006 Goodyear tire really is finicky, as far as what it needs in terms of air pressures and chassis setup. It bit us Saturday, and we are determined to figure out why.

“To have a top-12 finish escape us with the tire issue and other little things is very disappointing,” Green said, “but I know the guys will look into what our data shows us and we'll all be more prepared for the remainder of the races this season.

“We are taking our best car to Martinsville this weekend and we’ll be ready for everything that the tires and the Martinsville Speedway throws at us,” Green said. “After narrowly missing out on a victory back in 1994 – the Busch Series’ last visit to Martinsville - I know my Kleenex® Team can give me what it takes this week to fight for the win.”

Next for the No. 27 Brewco team will be the Goody’s 250 at Martinsville Speedway in Martinsville, Virginia on Saturday July 22. Television coverage of the race begins at 3:30 pm EST on NBC.
