David Green, No. 27 Brewco Federated Team Finish 21st in Nashville

Pit Stop in NashvilleNashville, TN (June 12, 2006) – Under a hot sun and full moon, David Green and the No. 27 Brewco team spent the full day Saturday at Nashville Superspeedway adjusting their Federated Auto Parts Ford Fusion en route to a 21st place finish in the Federated Auto Parts 300.

With two practice sessions, qualifying and a race all in one day, the challenge for the No. 27 Brewco team was keeping up with changing weather and track conditions

“The car unloaded very well,” said Green. “We spent most of practice trying to keep up with the track and the weather. With first practice at 8:30 am and finishing practice around noon, we saw the temps go up and up and up, and the track get more and more rubber on it. That led us to try a few things in the second practice session that we weren't totally happy with, so we went back to our staring point.

“Qualifying was very good,” Green continued, “even though we went out so early and under very hot conditions. We made good adjustments for our qualifying balance.”

Green started the race in the fifth position and had brother Mark Green atop the spotter’s stand. Early on, Green indicated the car was “good, good,” but things changed quickly as day turned to night.

“The race started off terrific,” Green said. “My car was fast and cut through the center of the corner very well, but the more we ran, the tighter the car got through the center. That’s not the best condition to have at Nashville.

“(Crew Chief) Stewart (Cooper) and the guys never gave up trying to find some answers with our tire air pressure and front-end adjustments that could get our car turning again like it did early in the race. Our pit stops were very good all night, and we kept trying to find the balance we needed, but unfortunately we never got it back to where it was when we started the race.

“This is obviously not the way we wanted to finish,” Green continued, “but I still feel like we are learning more and more each week about our tires, air pressures, and how that impacts our chassis throughout the fuel run.”

Next for the No. 27 Brewco team will be the Meijer 300 at Kentucky Speedway on Saturday June 17. Brewco Motorsports, located in Central City, will race in its home state this weekend and driver David Green calls Owensboro, Kentucky, his hometown. Television coverage of the race begins at 8 pm on FX.
