2005 Sponsorships
Include Greg
Biffle-driven
Nextel Cup, Busch
Series Entries
INDIANAPOLIS,
March 1, 2005
- SUBWAY®
restaurants will
fly its corporate
colors and logos
as full-season
associate sponsors
of race cars in
two different
NASCAR series in
2005, it was
announced today.
Hard-charging Greg
Biffle will wheel
Ford Taurus racers
for teams in both
the NASCAR NEXTEL
Cup and Busch
Series.
Biffle's full-time
ride remains the
No. 16 National
Guard/SUBWAY® Ford
fielded by Roush
Racing in Nextel
Cup competition.
The team will
provide the
SUBWAY® chain with
three primary
paint schemes in
2005, including
making them the
visibly featured
sponsor for the
series' two
SUBWAY®
restaurants-sponsored
events, Phoenix,
April 23 and
Martinsville,
October 23, as
well as for the
Watkins Glen, NY
event on August
14.
SUBWAY®
restaurants will
also be paired
with Brewco
Motorsports and
serve as an
associate sponsor
in Busch Series
competition.
Biffle will run a
limited schedule
aboard the team's
No. 66 Duraflame
Ford, including
events at Atlanta,
Bristol, Daytona
and Kansas City,
at which the
SUBWAY® chain will
enjoy full primary
paint schemes.
Rising star Aaron
Fike will replace
Biffle at the
remaining 2005
Busch events.
SUBWAY®
restaurants will
also be highly
visible in 2005
NASCAR event
sponsorships. In
addition to its
existing
relationship with
Martinsville
Speedway and its
SUBWAY 500, the
chain will add a
second NASCAR
NEXTEL Cup title
rights sponsorship
in the form of the
inaugural SUBWAY
Fresh 500. That
event will be held
April 23 at
Phoenix
International
Raceway. The
SUBWAY®
restaurants-sponsored
Martinsville race
is slated for
October 23.
"An
on-track presence
in NASCAR's two
top series is a
strong compliment
to the Nextel Cup
title rights event
sponsorships
SUBWAY®
restaurants will
enjoy in 2005,"
said Zak Brown,
President and CEO
of Just Marketing,
Inc. Brown's
Indianapolis-based
agency creates and
implements
motorsports
marketing programs
for the SUBWAY®
chain. "When
combined with its
team sponsorships
and related
activation
elements, SUBWAY®
restaurants will
have a powerful
mechanism for
further building
its already
excellent brand,"
he added.
On
his way up the
NASCAR ladder
Biffle has proven
himself to be a
prolific winner.
He captured the
Craftsman Truck
Series
championship in
2000. He then
produced a Busch
Series title in
2002. In 2003,
Biffle notched his
first NASCAR
NEXTEL Cup race
win with a Pepsi
400 triumph at
Daytona.
