Fontana, CA (February 27, 2006) – Scott Wimmer’s debut with Brewco Motorsports proved to be a success as the NEXTEL Cup regular brought the Duraflame Ford home in 14th place in Saturday’s Stater Bros 300 at California Speedway.

The weekend started strong with Wimmer posting the fifth fastest lap times in both practice sessions.  “It’s easy to be fast when you have a car that good,” said Wimmer following final practice.  Hopes were high for qualifying but a loose car gave Wimmer the 31st starting spot.

When the green flag dropped on Saturday Wimmer wasted no time climbing through the field, breaking into the top-10 on lap 45 and running as high as 7th by lap 67.  After adjustments were made on a green flag stop on lap 68, Wimmer reported that the car was “a little free all the way around.”

When the caution flew just 10 laps later, crew chief Newt Moore decided to bring the Duraflame Ford down pit road to tighten up the car.  Wimmer restarted 13th after the caution but quickly fell to 20th.  Wimmer fought his way back into the top-10 by lap 120 and was running 7th when green flag pit stops came on lap 122.  By this stop, Wimmer said the car was “really loose.”  The Duraflame Ford restarted 21st after a track bar adjustment and four fresh tires.

The final opportunity for adjustments came when the caution flew for debris with 17 laps to go.  Under this caution, Wimmer reported that the car was “a lot better” but was now “loose in and tight off.”  After four tires and fuel, Wimmer restarted 18th with 11 laps to go and went on to finish 14th.

“The Duraflame Ford was really fast all weekend,” said Wimmer.  “I haven’t driven a car that good in a long time.  I wish we would’ve stayed in the top-10 but overall we had a great weekend for our first race together.  If these Brewco Motorsports guys keep giving me great cars like that, you’ll be seeing the Duraflame Ford up front this season.”
